MASTERING THE BASICS

Whether you're jumpstarting or (RE-starting) your fitness journey, or even continuing on a strong path, this is your chance to master the basics and take command of your health, fitness, and well-being. The Moxie Coaching program is dedicated to fostering lasting transformation, empowering people to make positive, life-enhancing changes.

Most people do not need (and cannot do) complexity. Attempting advanced strategies or seeking a "magic pill," hack, or supplement before mastering the basics is like "mowing the lawn while the house is on fire."

Most people need help with the absolute basics of a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. They need strategies that are realistic, simple, and fit with their everyday lives as “imperfect” human beings. So, at Moxie, we do not believe in creating a bunch of strict rules. Instead, we are going to build a solid foundation by focusing on fundamentals.

Mastering the basics and doing them consistently is almost always enough for optimal...

  • fitness

  • health

  • body composition

  • performance

  • life balance

Do you want to lose weight? Gain muscle? Improve health? Boost performance? I can help you achieve the results you want... more easily than ever before.

While our fitness programs guide you on enhancing overall health while focusing on movement quality, joint + core stabilization, muscular strength, injury avoidance, aesthetics, and body composition, the most significant changes in body composition and muscle development will come from proper nutrition. Diet / nutrition accounts for at least 70% of the health-and-weight loss equation. Movement and regular exercise are important for many reasons, but they don't mean much if your nutrition foundation is full of holes. (In other words, you cannot "out-exercise" a poor diet).

The practices of exercising, eating right, and practicing self-care are more about action than mere knowledge. You might know exactly how to train or what, how much, and when to eat to lose body fat, build muscle, lower cholesterol, or control blood sugar, but without consistent daily action, you will not reach your goals.

Until you realize that inactivity + inconsistency are your biggest hurdles to change you cannot move on.

One of the main lessons is this: Eating better, exercising, and practicing self-care isn't about what you know. And it's not about what you do occasionally. Real results come when you find strategies for making great decisions consistently + reliably. Only consistent + daily action in the direction of your goals creates change. Perfection isn't necessary. Consistency is.

Each of us needs to find something that works for us, but that thing needs to be sustainable for a lifetime. The Moxie Coaching program focuses on building sustainable fitness + nutrition + lifestyle habits that can be your foundation for taking control of your fitness year-round. I have given you the tools + resources to confidently make fitness work for your lifestyle and goals but it's up to you to use them. (I can't do your pushups for you!)

A FEW TIPS TO KEEP IN MIND

  • You don’t have to do or “fix” everything at once (Nor should you try.) But every action you choose to do should somehow “advance the game”.

  • Look for tasks that have lower effort but higher impact. Start by asking yourself, “What’s the easiest, simplest way I can progress toward my goals?” and let that be the guide for where you begin making changes.

  • Start smaller than you think and anticipate obstacles.

  • Have a clear “why” for every task. Each action you choose should have a purpose and be connected to your goal.

Whenever you set out to improve your skills, change your behavior, or better your life, beginning in small, manageable steps gives you a greater chance of long-term success. A tiny change adhered to consistently will be just as effective, if not more so, than a large one only practiced half-heartedly.

Doing too much too fast not only overwhelms you but can also doom the effort to failure – thereby reinforcing the belief that it’s difficult, if not impossible, to succeed. When you start with small, achievable steps you can easily master, it reinforces your belief that you can easily improve.
