Today, more people work in offices, have longer work hours, use better technology and automation, and are required to move less on a daily basis. This new environment produces more sedentary people, and leads to dysfunction and increased incidents of injury including chronic disease, low-back pain, knee injuries, and other musculoskeletal injuries. In working with today's typical client, who is likely to be deconditioned, the fitness professional must use special consideration when designing fitness programs.
It is important to note that deconditioned does not simply mean a person is out of breath when climbing a flight of stairs or that they are overweight. It is a state in which a person may have muscle imbalances, decreased flexibility, or a lack of core and joint stability. All of these conditions can greatly affect the ability of the human body to produce proper movement and can eventually lead to injury. At Moxie, we use an integrated approach to create safe programs that consider functional capacity for each individual person.

We'll break down your big, year-long goals into monthly goals, your monthly goals into weekly goals, and your weekly goals into daily actions.

Designed to progress exercise participants safely and logically, providing a strong foundation (literally) before introducing strength or power moves. Too often, trainers and clients skip the stabilization phase, opting for more exciting and dynamic movements which typically results in frustration, burnout and/or injury.

Everything we teach you will be in direct support of a daily practice or habit that you are working on. But our coaching goes beyond education alone… We have found the coach/client relationship to be just as important – creating a connection, communicating, and making a client feel supported. Your 1-on-1 Personal Fitness Training Membership includes regular check-ins to help keep you motivated and accountable. After all, if you don't complete your workouts, it doesn't matter how expertly crafted they are.
PERMANENT HABIT CHANGE
The Habit Change Coaching Method (HCCM) is about facilitating lasting transformation - helping people make positive changes in their lives that support well-being.
We call this Transformational Coaching. Think of Transformational Coaching as this giant umbrella that commissions the three levels of change, which are:
When you change a habit, you change the course of your life. Most people have a pretty good idea of some important changes they would like to make in their lifestyle, right? But the powerful pull of habit keeps them stuck.
HOW IS THE HCCM DIFFERENT?
The basis of most coaching models is to
Identify a client’s wants and obstacles.
Then identify ways to remove those obstacles.
This is a good start, but it has critical missing elements. What happens at this point is that this creates a temporary breakthrough, which feels good in the moment for the client because they seem to have this grand aha, but before long the old patterns will start rushing back.
If the coach doesn’t know how to facilitate deep, lasting transformation, then they must create the same breakthrough over and over again. I call this the fake breakthrough – or the fakethrough. Eventually, these temporary, feel-good breakthroughs will stop working.
The secret is to change someone’s experience without them having to remember to be different.
When you are different without having to remember to be different, you’re doing something similar to a neurological restructuring on an identity level. So, habits are not just something you do. They actually become who you are. This is the magic.
